I never said he was electable or that I would ever want him elected, but I have to say I was wrong to think as
positively about Huckabee as I did in the wake of his Iowa victory.  I thought then he
was being misunderstood by people who saw him as closer to James Dobson
than to Jimmy Carter. 

I don’t think he’s mean spirited in the angry, judgmental Dobson
style, but his recent statements show that he doesn’t get the whole
separation of church and state thing. I might have been too impressed with his charm
and real signs that in contrast with the best known Dominionist leaders that his having some compassion and a soul was more important than his ideology.  I still think he’s educable, but clearly he’s not ready for prime time.  Even if he’s not a hard-core Dominionist, It’s
clear that he is far more a creature of that parochial worldview/culture than I thought.
