  • The “Obama Supporters Are Irrational” Meme

And the corollary: Clinton supporters are sensible realists. Now that it’s finally sinking in that the crazy Obama supporters are probably going to get their way, something of a backlash is hitting all over the web: Horrors. Is there time yet to save the republic from the ravages of Obamamania?  It was interesting, also, to

  • McCain & the Surveillance-Torture State

He voted for it again. This isn’t the first time McCain has been outmaneuvered by more nimble legislators and a savvy (compared to him anyway) George W. Bush — or has completely sold his integrity down the river for cheap political gain. (You decide…) I suspect that Senator Straight Talk has been distracted and confused

  • The Wonk Bubble

Ezra Klein: You can imagine [Obama] getting people interested in things that didn’t previously interest them, or convincing people that steps they used to think were too risky are, in fact, necessary. But this is what’s been so disappointing about the Obama campaign: It has refused to press that advantage. I can imagine him doing

  • Potomac Primaries (Updates 1-4)

Virginia a 62/37 Obama blowout.  So much for Clinton’s advantage in the primary format. Obama is poaching from Clinton’s base (e.g., Latinos 55/45 Obama), and this will continue for the next several weeks.  If Clinton can recover, I don’t see how. Winning in Ohio/Texas won’t be good enough; she’ll need blowouts, and how likely is

  • Hardball Distortions about the Caucus Process

She told reporters who had gathered to watch her tour a General Motors plant here that "everybody knew, you all knew, what the likely outcome of these recent contests were." "These are caucus states by and large, or in the case of Louisiana, you know, a very strong and very proud African-American electorate, which I

  • Clinton the Hawk and Her Advisors

Again, in case you needed reminding about one of the most important differences between Obama and Clinton: It should come as no surprise that during the run-up to the Iraq invasion, Obama spoke at a Chicago anti-war rally while Clinton went as far as falsely claiming that Iraq was actively supporting al-Qaeda. And during the

  • Another Big Obama Win in Maine (Update 1)

With 59% reporting it’s Obama 57, Clinton 42.  It’s not 70/30, but it could be 60/40 by the end of the night.  More on implications later. Romney wins big, too.  Go figure. UPDATE:  It did come in pretty close to 60/40 with a 59/40 total at the end of the night.  What does it mean?

  • Charisma and Change

I think that one of the key differences between Obama supporters and Clinton supporters lies in their imagination of how change happens and how much of it is truly possible.  Clinton supporters look at Obama as raising unrealistic expectations, and all his enthusiasts will come back down to earth when it becomes clear he’s no

  • Washington Caucus Report (Updates 1-5)

I’ll be updating as I get more info, but I just got back and at least in our district, it was overwhelmingly pro-Obama. Our caucus had 82 people in it, and 65 went for Obama, and the other caucus groups were similar. I don’t know if that says much about the direction of the state.
